About

The Canmore Christmas Artisans Market was created in 1996 as a fundraising event for the parent-cooperative Canmore Preschool Society. It has been a successful annual event, on the third weekend in November, ever since. 2017 marks the 22nd market, and it has become known for the outstanding quality of handmade items, a festive event to start the holiday season, and as a place for the community to connect and celebrate the work of artists and artisans in our community.

The market was created and run for its first 18 years by Karen Antrobus, who continued to fulfill this vital role as a volunteer long after her daughter left preschool. Karen set a high standard for the quality of work at the market, both through her own creations and her co-ordination of the vendor jury process.

The market selects artists and artisans for their creativity and craftsmanship, in addition to balancing the variety of offerings at the market. Bow Valley residents receive preference. All goods must be handmade and sold by the person who made them.

The market continues to be the largest annual fundraiser for Canmore Preschool. We would like to expand to include more artisans, however we are already maximizing the space available at Canmore Collegiate High School.

We hope to see you at the market!
